Health Information Technology (HIT)

Our Success

In our complex health care system, technology can create an infrastructure for improving health care management. Building this infrastructure is a challenge that involves many stakeholders, but C-HIT can provide answers. Our organization is at the forefront of these efforts to create and manage electronic health records. We work in several areas, for a variety of federal, state and corporate organizations.

With our corporate partners, we have been major players in the efforts of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to create an electronic system for tracking medical payments and health records. Our efforts have been game-changers in the health care field, maximizing efficiency and ultimately leading to better health care delivery.

Through involvement in standards development, we have participated in the effort to develop and test the services, policies, and processes needed to support the secure exchange of health information over the internet. This set of policies and processes is known as the Nationwide Health Information Network (NwHIN). Our work supports this national network as well as the HHS/CMS CONNECT gateway initiative to exchange medical documents, and we also provide gateway services to commercial entities. We have also contributed to the Standards & Interoperability (S&I) Framework, to aid the effort to further refine health information technology policy.

A key component of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is the establishment of national standards for electronic health care transactions and national identifiers for providers, health insurance plans and employers. Through participation in the standards development workgroups, we have honed our expertise in health information technology and are able to apply the standards to benefit our clients. With our partners, we are helping to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the North American health care system by using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) to increase interoperability in our health care system.

We are redesigning the way quality health care is delivered. Our expertise will help your organization join the national effort to improve the health care system.
